Dancers

As dancers leap across the stage, I'm sitting in the audience, drawing in the dark with my Chinese brush. The lights go on, and the dancers are still moving, across my paper. That's what these drawings are about: the human figure in motion. I'm not interested in the precise position, nor in the anatomy, nor even in who the dancer is. I'm interested in the energy, in keeping the drawing alive. I wouldn't want a dancer to pose for me. In fact the livelier and more energetic the dance, the more excited I am.
